TOP TEN

"Overrated Bands"

All of these bands are considered to have had some sort of major commercial success in the music industry over the years. But for the life of me, I can't figure out why. Here are my Top Ten Overrated Bands.

#10

NINE INCH NAILS

Thoughts: Trent Reznor might be some sort of mastermind, because somehow NIN has sold over 20 million records and has two Grammy's.

#9

SOUNDGARDEN

Thoughts: I love me some grunge era music, especially the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam & Alice In Chains, but Soundgarden was never on that echelon with those other bands. Just not my style, I guess.

Rest easy, Chris Cornell.

#8

KINGS OF LEON

Thoughts: This song is pretty radical, and I'll admit that they are pretty good songwriters. But their overall sound and tone just doesn't strike a nerve with me. Maybe they'll grow on me one day.

#7

RADIOHEAD

Thoughts: This song is bound to cause a car accident.

#6

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE

Thoughts: This is garbage, right? Maybe I just suck.

#5

THE DOORS

Thoughts: Dude, Organ overload.  I feel like I'm in the 7th inning stretch of a Quentin Tarantino celebrity softball game.

#4

PRIMUS

Thoughts: Les Claypool has some major talent slappin' da bass, but the overall product is hard for me to listen to for more than a few minutes. This song could easily be played on a loop for any scene in Saw 1 through 30.

#3

FUGAZI

Thoughts: Just ask yourself this question:  Wouldn't the world be a much better place if Ian MacKaye just continued on with Minor Threat?

#2

FOO FIGHTERS

Thoughts: Yes, I know, Dave Grohl is the ultimate dude. And sure, he has written a few good songs (like "Everlong" and "My Hero"), but the rest of his portfolio is Fooey if you ask me.

#1

THE BEATLES

Thoughts: I realize that every song, ever written, has somehow been influenced by The Beatles. But, I just don't know why. I'm down with songs like "Yesterday", "Let It Be" and a few others, but beyond that, their songs are certainly a reach for me.
