25th Anniversary of the "Monsters In Moscow"

On this day in 1991, just days after the failed attempt by members of the Soviet Union's government to take control of the country from president Mikhail Gorbachev, Pantera took the stage in Moscow, Russia, as they opened up for AC/DC and Metallica.

Despite initial efforts to postpone the concert (due to the country's unrest), the Soviet Army deployed over 10,000 guards (which some suggest the number was closer to 20,000-25,000 guards) to supervise the mayhem. Under the supervision of these men, Pantera rocked the house to a crowd of over 800,000 screaming fans for what was known as the Monsters In Moscow concert.
